# Uploads

How to upload images, wiki pages, and character sheets to the wiki.

## Image Uploads

Upload images through the wiki's admin interface to use them in wiki pages.

**Supported:** Any standard image format (PNG, JPG, GIF, etc.)

**Where they go:** Uploaded images are stored in the `_assets/` directory for the wiki instance.

**How to reference them:** Use the standard Markdown image syntax:

![Alt text](/assets/filename.jpg)
![Portrait|small|left](/assets/npc-portrait.jpg)
```

The `/assets/` path maps to the `_assets/` directory. See the {cyan}Wiki Markdown{/cyan} page for image sizing and positioning options.

## Wiki Page Uploads

Upload `.md` files to create or update wiki pages.

**Constraints:**
- File type: `.md` only
- Max size: 10 MB
- The filename becomes the page slug (e.g., `my-page.md` becomes `/my-page`)

**Overwrite protection:** If a page with the same slug already exists, the wiki will ask for confirmation before overwriting.

**Process:**
1. Write your page in Markdown (with any wiki extensions)
2. Upload via the admin page editor or file upload
3. The page is immediately live

## Character Sheet Uploads

Character sheets (`.toml` files) go through a review process.

**Constraints:**
- File type: `.toml` only
- Max size: 1 MB
- Must be valid TOML syntax

**Admin upload:** Admins can upload character files directly to `_characters/` through the character management interface.

**Player upload (paste system):** Players submit sheets through `/paste`, which queues them for ST review. See the {cyan}Character Management{/cyan} page for the full workflow.

## Downloads

### Wiki Pages

Any wiki page can be downloaded as Markdown:
- Navigate to the page
- Use the download link (available to admins)

### Character Sheets

Characters can be downloaded as TOML:
- **By admin:** Download from the character's page
- **By player:** Use their download token URL: `/download/<token>`
- **Specific backup version:** Append `?v=<timestamp>` to download a historical version
