| Who runs it | Kate Mulvaney, with her wife Audrey and their family |
| Not welcome | The Eurotrashers (they drink at Chopper's) |
The place
Fiddler's Green commits to its Irish theme all the way. Lunch is corned-beef SCOP on cabbage SCOP (SCOP is processed food standing in for both) with a stew made from stout. On the third Monday of the month there's real soda bread, and nobody's sure where it comes from. The house beer, the Pint O' Plain (20eb), is real Irish stout that nomads bring in.
The crowd
Cops, war veterans and local edgerunners, the freelancers who take dangerous jobs, come here for a pint and the latest gossip. The regulars would rather break up a fight than start one, so it feels like a family pub. The Eurotrashers are barred.
Kate Mulvaney
Kate owns the place and works the bar. She's a veteran of the SouthAm wars and came home with a medical-grade cyberarm. She runs the pub with her wife Audrey and the rest of their family.
Why edgerunners come here
- Job gossip. If there's work going around Little Europe, people talk about it here.
- The post office. Kate holds messages and packages for her regulars, so clients can reach you without learning where you live.
Who drops in
- Father Kevin from Holy Angels, who complains about the pub's idea of Irish culture. He and Kate have been trading jabs for years and enjoy it.
- Dillon Murphy, who makes the same complaints. Kate doesn't enjoy him.
Starting a scene
Meet over lunch and compare what you've heard about work, or bring a newcomer to your usual spot. Decide who's a regular and who needs the menu explained.
