He came down from the mountain three days later, changed in every way that mattered. His Rite of Passage earned him the deed name "Child of Thunderbird." The elders sent him into a corrupted storm-spirit's domain in the Umbra, where Wyld-born winds had been twisted by Wyrm taint. He called upon Thunderbird's fury, channeling lightning through his own body to shatter the corruption. He nearly died, but the storm cleared, and the spirit was freed. Thunderbird marked him that night - not with a visible sign, but with the certainty that the storm would always answer when he called. He rose through Wendigo society as a Philodox of uncommon patience and severity. He earned "Voice of the Litany" at Fostern for memorizing and adjudicating every clause of the Litany during a multi-sept dispute over hunting grounds. He became Athro and earned "He-Who-Held-the-Line" during a Wyrm incursion near the old mines, holding a defensive position for three days while the rest of the sept evacuated the caern's fetishes and spirit allies. He was named Alpha of the High Branch Caern eight years ago, when the previous Alpha fell to Harano. RECENT EVENTS: When Wyrm corruption began spreading through the old silver mines beneath Eagle County, Redfeather made a calculated decision. He chose to let the corruption advance, reasoning that the mine development threatening the caern's physical territory would collapse on its own once the Wyrm presence became undeniable. The humans would flee, the land would be reclaimed, and the sept would deal with the corruption at their chosen time. It was a catastrophic misjudgment. The corruption ran far deeper and spread far faster than any of them understood. The Beta and several sept members entered the mines to confront it against Redfeather's wishes. Most of them died. Samira al-Rashid, the Rites Mistress, managed to partially seal the corruption with a desperate rite and emerged as one of the few survivors. She was elevated to Beta upon her return. Redfeather publicly accepted responsibility for the losses, but privately, the decision has hardened something in him. He sees the tragedy as proof that half-measures fail - that the sept needs stronger, more decisive leadership. He has begun planning to rededicate the caern from Owl to Thunderbird, his personal totem. ST NOTE: Redfeather's arc over the coming months is a slow fall. The guilt over the mine deaths, combined with his increasing authoritarianism and exposure to lingering Wyrm taint from the mines, will gradually corrupt him. The rededication of the caern to Thunderbird is the first visible step - a selfish act disguised as spiritual leadership.
