The Eagle County Mine

The scouting mission to the abandoned mine beneath Eagle County has returned. Two teams deployed from the bawn on March 21st: a ground team led by Hettar with Simon, Niki, and Cassandra, and an Umbra team led by Yasmin with Notch and Inola-Blackfoot.

What they found was worse than expected. The forest thins and dies as it approaches the mine. Trees split open and weep black tar. The soil is packed with grey residue. No birds call. At the mine entrance, fresh corporate equipment sits alongside the decay: generators, cables, crates stamped with clean logos.

Inside, thick chemical smog fills the tunnels. The ground is coated in warm, sticky tar that clings to anything that touches it. Support beams have warped into shapes that look grown rather than built. In the Umbra, Gaian spirits have fled the area entirely, replaced by malformed things that twitch at the edges of sight. Banes coil lazily around the mine mouth.

Four Banes attacked the ground team inside the mine. The pack fought them off and withdrew. A Cleansing Rite was performed outside the mine to purge Wyrm taint from the fighters. Samples of the black tar were collected for analysis.

The mine is active. Something corporate is operating there. Something spiritual is nesting there. The sept now has eyes on the entrance via Luca's surveillance camera, and samples to study. The next step is up to the elders.
